The Beliefs of the New Testament
Church
We
believe that God loves us; that God loves and lives in passionate
pursuit of the whole world, including you. God is the ruler of our
lives, and that binds us together in powerful relationships with each
other, with Christ Jesus, and with you! We believe that God calls us
to be witnesses of His benevolent and righteous rule and reign in the
world. Jesus came to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, and
as Christians (followers of Christ) our lives and our words are a
Signpost of that Kingdom. We invite you to receive the gift of the
Kingdom of God (Mark 10:15).We believe that God calls us to be
disciples. Jesus told those who walked with him, after his death and
resurrection, to Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. You will
find us to be a people who place a high value on loving people,
teaching people what Jesus says about life and life everlasting, and
baptizing them into Christ to receive a new birth through Him. Our goal
is to be all that God has in mind for his people. We believe that
members of the body of Christ are called to serve. Another word for
service is ministry. Every Christian is given gifts by God that are
meant to strengthen the community (Romans 12:4-6). In this church
family, you will have a place to serve, and a place to belong! We
believe that we encounter God in our worship. We gather together to
worship Him in Spirit and truth. God is enthroned upon the praise and
worship of his People (Psalm 22:3). We gather to encourage each other,
to love one another, and to glorify God who reigns. We believe there is One God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired Word and is, therefore; our only guide in faith and in practice of life and worship. We
believe that gospel is epitomized in the life, death, and resurrection
of Jesus the Messiah. Jesus died for sins, once for all, the righteous
for the unrighteous, to bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18). We are saved by
our faith in the work of Jesus on the cross and follow His lead as to
how to receive Him.We believe that the church is made up of
those people who choose by faith to give their whole lives to God,
allowing God to rule their lives. We believe that this covenant
commitment is fulfilled by loving Him with all that we have and all
that we are which leads us to repentance, confession, and baptism
(which is immersion) into the possession of Christ. We believe
that the church is the temple of the Holy Spirit of God and that each
baptized Christian is a vessel of that Holy Spirit of God.We
believe that God is enthroned in heaven, ruling the cosmos. When
Judgment Day comes, Christ will come and draw all things to a close.
Everyone will be required to stand before the judgment seat of Christ
and give an account of the deeds done in the body. Those who walk in
faith and faithfulness will be received into the happiness of the Lord. What you will see in our worship:
We have communion every Sunday where we commemorate and celebrate the
death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as our Lord.
We sing without musical instruments because the early Christians did not. We invite everyone to sing!
We pray together, read scripture together and we learn more about Jesus each week with a sermon preached from the word of God.
What you may not see, but is distinctive about us:
This church is led by God and His word as well as spiritual men who
have been selected by the congregation to serve as Shepherds (pastors),
Elders, or Overseers (bishops). The elders of this church are held
accountable by God and His word.
We are not a part of any denominational structure. We are a self supporting self governing body of believers in Christ.
